No, it's not a Prince cover (nor is it about the same
subject matter as Prince's dirty disco classic) but a song about
not being quite over someone ("In my head, I still love you").
However, don't expect some dreary lament, this is sparky, spunky,
spiky guitar pop with attitude and balls. The gorgeous Sally-Anne
Marsh croons and swoons whilst backed by what sounds like Satan's
helpers in Hawaiian shirts. The main song is like an evil Kylie
fronting the B52s and the 2nd track is a gorgeous ballad with a
dark undercurrent. Mad buggers and all the better for it. LOGO magazine
Brand Violet bring a whole new meaning to sexy swagger within pure
pop-rock music, as 'Alien Hive Theme' literally soars as an instant
classic anthem lifted into memory by singer Sally-Anne Marsh's exquisitely
versatile vocals and bass grooves that are too big for this mint
song alone. Hardly one-trick ponies, this 4-piece proceed to show
something of a darker side with 'Retrovision Coma USA,' coming on
like a musical Addams Family, though the vibe is always upbeat and
perpetually quirky. In fact the vibes from these two songs are so
good, Brand Violet sound set to storm the charts with catchy music
that is actually totally rocking too in its 'pop' wake. 'RetrovisionÉ'
is sheer cool. Brand VioletÉare no fools. JUXTA
