"Jetson are a gloriously rowdy speedball made from traces
of Ash, Blur, Elastica and early sneering Manics, right down to
the spray-on sloganeering and legs thrown apart from the sheer weight
of their own enthusiasm. Where Jetson fly from here, is surely within
their own control." The Fly
Newcastle finest punked up pioneers Jetson, release their debut
single "Social Hand Grenades' on TBA Records on Monday April
5th. Already being praised by the likes of Radio 1 and The Fly,
Jetson's brand of fiery guitar work and live shows have gained them
much attention from the media and A&R types alike.
Jetson are: Ali (guitar/vocals), Bruce (bass), Dave (guitar) and
Alex (drums). Since forming in 2002 it takes just 5 gigs before
the band's reputation leap-frogs them over other, more established
local bands, and into support slots with up and coming bands such
as Easyworld, Simple Kid, The Parkinsons, Rueben and Hell Is For
Heroes. And, a few old hands such as Tom Hingley, The Bluetones
and Shed 7.
The band's early demo found its way onto the Radio 1's OneMusic
site, they immediately go straight to No.1 on the demo charts, and
stay there for a month. Almost 5 weeks at number one, and eventually
totalling 14 weeks in the top 40. They also get more than one spin
on the Evening Sessions. They go on to become 1 of just 6 bands
from the hundreds on the OneMusic site to be playlisted on Radio
1.
Hardly surprising then, that a number of labels notice 'something
brewing up north'. So much so that, regardless of the location,
there's been an A&R presence at 22 of the last 30 gigs.
