The four lads from Watford that make up Mohair are a down to earth
bunch, always up for a laugh, like any group of early 20 something’s
in their prime… unless you happened to hear them perform live.
And then you’d discover that there’s nothing average
about Mohair: raw, powerful and incredibly tight.
Assured, loud and undeniably different, Mohair are something like
a phenomenon. Take a good slug of guitars, a Hammond organ, bass
and drums, mix it with four astounding vocal capabilities and an
x-factor of energy you can’t put your finger on and you have
the full on rock and roll sound of Mohair.
Three years ago they kicked off their journey writing songs and
gigging like lunatics under the name ‘Trooper’. With
just their energy, belting melodies, unquestionable charisma and
natural talent they played every small venue from here to kingdom
come, earning themselves the respect and acclaim they needed. Most
at home when playing live on stage, Mohair have played over 400
gigs throughout the UK and Ireland. The band supported Garbage at
the Montreux Jazz Festival and after several showcase gigs in Los
Angeles at The Roxy on Sunset Boulevard, American publication Music
Connection described them as “Raw powerful and tight with
charisma and talent”. While key British press have commented,
“Mohair’s raw energy and dynamism are indisputable.
Definitely worth keeping an eye on.”
Their debut single “Brown Eyes Blue”, released in May
2004, was play listed on Radio 2 for 4 weeks where they also played
a Janice Long live session.
The band’s exhilarating live shows have won them a wealth
of fans up and down the UK.
